About Henry
I am a working artist who specializes in neo-primitive art, steampunk, sculpture, and much more. I have a Master of Fine Arts from University of Iowa. Some of the artwork I did not lose in the Iowa flood of 2008 appears on this site.
Over the past few years, I've been spending time between my loving family and experimenting with some new directions in my art, which I started while in graduate school.
About some of my work
Many people have confused my covers and other artwork for 3D-computer graphics or from 3D animations. They are, in fact, sculptures, which are made from found objects, castings, and other unique materials. These sculptures are then photographed and incorporated into the page layout software. So, when I say "illustrations" or "3D art," I'm referencing my sculptures.
I have produced interior and cover illustrations for role-playing game books since 1993. I began my cover-art career with White Wolf, on their numerous products for their games Wraith: The Oblivion and Changeling: The Dreaming. I illustrated the covers of several Dungeons & Dragons books in the game's second edition, and then produced cover art for the third edition game's Player's Handbook, Monster Manual, and Dungeon Master's Guide (2000), Monsters of Faerûn (2001), Monster Manual II (2002), Book of Vile Darkness (2002), Fiend Folio, the 3.5 versions of the Player's Handbook, Monster Manual, and Dungeon Master's Guide (2003), Book of Exalted Deeds, Monster Manuals I, II, III, IV and V (2004), Complete Divine (2004), and Weapons of Legacy (2005).
I also illustrated cards for the Magic: The Gathering and Dark Ages collectible card games.
